The keynote speaker will be Rev. Father Barnabas Powell who will offer practical and meaningful ways to implement the retreat theme, “Growing Orthodoxy in America”. Father Barnabas is the pastor of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Greek Orthodox Church in Cumming, Georgia. He is also a prolific author, blogger, and podcaster. He has worked in Christian ministry for his entire life and one of his talents is creatively using media to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition to his responsibilities as a parish priest, Father Barnabas founded Faith Encouraged Ministries and developed a 16-session video introduction to the Orthodox Church, A Journey to Fullness. As a convert to the Orthodox Christian Faith, Father Barnabas is passionate about helping others find the Church and grow in Christ.

His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos will also be participating in the retreat and will also speak about the importance of young adults remaining connected to their Church, not only for the benefit of their personal salvation, but also as witnesses of Christ’s love so as to bring others to embrace the fullness of the Orthodox faith. In addition, Thomaida Hudanish, Director of the Metropolis Commission for Orthodox Missions and Evangelism, will offer insight into her work to spread Orthodoxy and provide resources for all our parishes to be more innovative in their efforts to open their doors to people seeking a spiritual home.

The retreat schedule includes a visit to the Monastery of the Life Giving Spring on Saturday afternoon and participating in a work project. On Saturday evening, participants will enjoy an evening at the lake, complete with a talent show and campfire.
