“‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have  commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”
Matthew 28: 19 – 20

It is time to once again prepare for the clergy and lay leaders of our parishes to come together for our annual Clergy-Laity Assembly. This important gathering provides us with the opportunity to learn and grow in our faith, gain new insights into the ministries and programs offered by our Metropolis, and take an active role in the governance of our Church.

The Clergy-Laity Assembly will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4 and conclude at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Delegates should plan their departing flights no earlier than 6:00 p.m. so they can fully participate in all the deliberations and discussions.

This year’s Assembly will focus on Missions and Evangelism with the theme, The Great Commission in the Parish. The guest speaker will be Rev. Father Evan Armatas from Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Loveland, CO. He is a dynamic clergyman and speaker who will share with us his insights into parish growth, outreach, and ministry development. The Assembly will also feature interactive workshops, other informative presentations, the annual review of the Metropolis finances, and the presentation and approval of the 2019 Metropolis Budget.

Details are available in the 90-Day Notice and the full schedule and registration information will be available on January 4, 2019.

We look forward to the active participation of all our communities. Please come with an open mind and an open heart, ready and willing to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be a beacon of God’s love in your parishes.

Profile Fr Evan Armatas

Father Evan is the priest of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Loveland, Colorado.

Father Evan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Boston College with an emphasis in business management and Christian apologetics in 1991. He earned his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross in 2002 and served as an assistant priest for five years at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village before being assigned as St. Spyridon’s first full-time priest in August of 2007.

Father Evan's current parish of Saint Spyridon began humbly, in its first year only six families called St. Spyridon home. Today it is a vibrant and growing parish of several hundred. The ministries and members of the parish represent a wide range of backgrounds and interests which make the parish a diverse place of worship, witness, and service.  In August of 2018 the parish moved into a new 18,000 square foot sanctuary and facility.

In 2002, Father Evan founded the St. Nektarios Education Fund, a non-profit student education program. The fund, which he still manages along with its board, has established five schools in Africa, educated over 5,000 students and delivered over $1,000,000 in student aid through its network partners of IOCC and OCMC.
Father Evan has served as the Metropolis of Denver Program Director of Camp Emmanuel, its summer youth camp program, and as the Metropolis Clergy Syndesmos President. You will find podcasts by Father Evan on Saint Spyridon's website, and you can listen to his live call-in radio show, “Orthodoxy Live,” on Ancient Faith Radio, which broadcasts every Sunday night at 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern.

Father Evan his wife Presbytera Anastasia are the happy parents of three daughters, Alexia, Eleni, Maria, and a son Spyridon; they live in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado where they ski, flyfish, and hike.
