The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco is pleased to announce that three distinguished stewards were invested as Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate The investiture service was held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, along with His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco and other members of the Eparchial Synod, as well as Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese.

A total of 38 distinguished stewards were invested as the Archon Class of 2025, with three of the new candidates being from the Metropolis of San Francisco.

  • Hon. Stavros Anthony, Ph.D., Archon Referendarios, Las Vegas, NV (Lieutenant Governor, State of Nevada)
  • David Matty, Ph.D., Archon Eftaxias, San Juan Capistrano, CA (Principal, Computer Services Technology)
  • George Valaskantjis, Archon Orphanotrofos, Dana Point, CA (Principal, Food Services)

“These three devoted stewards of our Church have shown steadfast faith, leadership, and love for the Lord,” stated His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco. “Through their investiture as Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, they are called to uphold and defend the sacred mission of the Mother Church. Their witness and dedication to preserving the future of faith will benefit generations of Orthodox faithful.”
