The faithful from Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Roseville, CA witnessed the ordination of Rev. Deacon Lukas Breen to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, on Friday July 25, 2025 during the parish Feast Day Liturgy.

“To serve as a priest is a sacred and awesome calling. It is a life that requires humility, obedience, sacrifice, and love,” remarked His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos. “It is a path filled with joys and trials, strength and surrender. The priest becomes both servant and shepherd, teacher and intercessor, lifting up the prayers of the faithful and offering the Holy Gifts upon the altar of the Lord. Father Lukas now enters this calling today with youthful enthusiasm, with deep and sincere faith, and with a heart ready to bring Christ’s love to His people.”

Archdeacon Justin Bosl (Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church, Castro Valley, CA); Rev. Deacon Joseph Ruocco-Brown (Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church, Roseville, CA); and Rev. Deacon Danilo Simich (Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Reno, NV).

Father Lukas was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston, MA.

Father Lukas is a 2025 graduate of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
(Brookline, MA) with a Master of Divinity degree; and a 2015 graduate of Pacific University (Forest Grove, OR) with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages. Father Lukas is married to Presvytera Josephine, and they are parents to Myriam, Clara and Simon Peter.

Father Lukas will serve as the Assistant Priest at Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Roseville, CA.
